I thought I would go ahead and give an update for my friends who live out of town.  It seems as if I haven't really blogged in a long time.

Work is going well.  I'm really enjoying what I am doing and gaining tons of experience.  I have opportunities to see God's work everywhere: in patients I see who were encouraged, in conflict with my co-workers, and seeing the many different ways I sin in pride in my heart.  I love the unit of people I work with.  We're practically like a family, and everyone works really well together.  I don't see too many other places where you see that kind of teamwork except maybe church staff.

I have a new group of girls in my fellowship group, well not completely new, but we've moved some of the girls around.  I now have an interesting mix, but I love that interesting mix.  I'm excited to see what God is going to do and how He is going to build the girls together.

Do you ever have short term goals in the back of your mind, but it seems like there is never a right time to accomplish them?  Well, one of the goals for me would be learning to cook more dishes.  I'm going to try really hard to move that goal to one of my priorities.  We'll see how that works out.

Well, sorry for the ramble, but that's what happens when you get out of the habit of blogging.  Hope everyone is doing well.  Drop me a comment if you still read this, I'm interested to see how many people actually get on xanga.

    Prayer Request

As you all know, my grandmother has been in the hospital.  They will be D/C her today, and the doctor recommended that we use hospice services.  My grandmother indicated before she became sick that she did not want any type of feeding tubes, only comfort care.  The doctor estimates that because she is no longer able to swallow, she will probably pass away in the next couple of days.

Please pray for my family, especially my Dad as we wait for her to pass away.

    Different Kind of Christmas

Yes, I am actually giving an update.  It seems that I rarely have time to look at my xanga or update it now a days.

Well, to start with, the holidays are very different for me this year.  For the past 3 years I would have a 4-5 week break from whatever I was doing, which was school at the time.  This year, I've worked all the way up until the Christmas day, to the point of my boss sending me home early yesterday to get some rest.

My grandparents (my mom's parents) usually come through El Paso, and this year they were not able to travel from Dallas.

My grandmother (my dad's mom) is in the hospital and will probably stay there for the next week because she became dehydrated.  The doctor thinks that she will probably pass away sometime in the next 6 months.

My family seems weary as a result of several circumstances, and most of us either finished Christmas shopping yesterday or today.

Yet with all of these different things going on, my sister pointed something out.  She thinks that God has allowed everything to happen in this exact way to show us that Christmas is not about any of those things.  Christmas is not about family being perfectly healthy or about finishing all of our Christmas shopping on time.  Christmas is about treasuring the gift of Christ that God gave us.  I agree with my sister, and I can see God's grace in that I don't feel as if any of these things have stolen my joy.  I praise God that he continues to sustain me and pour out his grace on my life.  I pray that this Christmas season you would also be able to stop in the midst of busyness and thank Him for His gift of grace.

    Have a Merry Christmas!
